Is there a reason why V3 and V4 cannot run in parallel using different communication ports and physical drives iaw v3 is on d: installed while v4 on drive g:? They can share the same JVM even though there will be different instances running, right?
Answering the question partially myself with another question:
How come that the gps103 for example uses #5001? Can that be redirected so that some gps103 devices stay on 5001 for V3.x while they use port 5501 for V4.x? I never set the port# on the device, only that ID which -I thought- is a random # to differentiate several devices of the same type.

Sure, you can re-configure second instance of Traccar to use different ports. I don't think anyone ever said that it's not possible.
