Blog post will be out soon, but basically the main change is the modern interface is now the default.
Do we have option to keep the old interface, as still lot of challenge in modern interface ?
You can switch back, yes.
What are the challenges with modern app?
slow and non-responsive when vehicles are more then 500 in one user id. many function hangs
Hangs? Which functions? It would be nice if you provided all the detailed feedback. Eventually this is going to be the only interface, so the sooner it's solved the better.
I haven't yet installed v5.0 so I don't know if what I'm about to ask has been put in.
The old interface showed how much time elapsed since the last signal of each vehicle, next to their name.
This is very valuable info since some trackers delay quite a bit until they find a signal and with just an "offline" notice you don't really know if the car is really on the way or it has stopped.
There's a plan to improve that.
The new interface, had permissions/settings issues.
Can you tell me if they were implemented in the new interface?
Example:
Attributes -> UI: Disable Drivers : true
Attributes -> UI: Disable Calendars : true
Attributes -> UI: Disable Maintenance : true
Attributes -> UI: Disable Events : true
etc...
Those are not implemented yet. Those are not really permissions. It's just UI configuration to hide certain features. It doesn't affect the API.
Sorry @Anton. I expressed myself badly... Actually it's interface settings and not permissions as you corrected me.
But I make use of these settings to make the interface "cleaner" for my users (they only do position monitoring / tracking / Users -> Permissions -> Readonly: true
).
I chose not to migrate to the new interface until these interface settings are implemented.
Do you think about maintaining backward compatibility with previous versions of the web interface?
We plan to add this eventually, but it's a bit lower priority.
We will support legacy app for now, but eventually it will be the new version only. Please submit your request on GitHub, so we can implement it.
Hi Anton, so now we can completely get rid of the database, and use Traccar just for device communication and forward location data to some other service. is there any documentation or suggestions to use??
We have the following problems with the new interface:

No documentation, but you can check the code.
Anyone updated ? Any issues experienced ?
@Anton, can you please help us and share the changes in blog. Any concerns to be taken careof as lastly warned for this update.
