Server issue

Hello everyone

I am very new to this site. I have an issue with regards to the server.
I have the Traccar client downloaded onto my Samsung S7 phone, I was going by the step by step process on the PC and was unable to see my device on the PC
When I check the log folder, this is the message I am getting:

2016-09-14 22:42:04 INFO: Operating system name: Windows 10 version: 10.0 architecture: x86
2016-09-14 22:42:04 INFO: Java runtime name: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM vendor: Oracle Corporation version: 25.101-b13
2016-09-14 22:42:04 INFO: Memory limit heap: 247mb non-heap: 0mb
2016-09-14 22:42:04 INFO: Character encoding: UTF-8 charset: UTF-8
2016-09-14 22:42:04 INFO: Version: 3.7-SNAPSHOT
2016-09-14 22:42:06 INFO: Starting server...

I suppose what I am trying to ask is should I be getting another message stating anything else to confirm that the server is up and running?

Regards

What do you see on the status screen in the app?

Also check troubleshooting page:

https://www.traccar.org/troubleshooting/

On the status screen I can see the message: Location update
This is repeated constantly

Also when I use the port check tool it says that the port is closed
But when I run CMD and the command netstat it says that port 5001 is listening

TCP 0.0.0.0:5001 Dunner-Desktop:0 LISTENING

I hope you don't use port 5001 for Traccar Client. Correct port is 5055.

If it appears to be closed, it means that it's either not forwarded on the router, or firewall blocks it.

After reading over a few threads I have changed the port to 5055 and when I check the netstat -a
I get the following message
TCP 0.0.0.0:5055 Dunner-Desktop:0 LISTENING

I have also disabled the firewall to rule this out

If server is open locally and you don't see it from internet, it means there is some issue with your network. Have you forwarded port on router? Are you sure you have a dedicated public IP address?

Dunner5158 years ago

Ok I seem to be getting somewhere
So when I turn the wifi on my phone it works and I can see my phone from my PC on the map
But when I change from wifi over to data on my phone it loses signal and I can not track it.
I have the location provider in the Traccar app set to mixed provider

Thank you for your fast responses

I'm guessing that when you are using wifi, both server and phone are on the same network. When you are using mobile data, you should use server public IP address.

Ok so I am now finished work for the day so I'm gonna try get the client to work.

It will work if I set the client to my PC ip address and use wifi (as they are on the same network)
But when I set it to my public ip address and use data on my phone it wont work

Dunner5158 years ago

I know I must be getting very close to getting this to work over a data connection.
I have a feeling its something to do with me doing something silly or missing something

Just want to keep this updated incase anyone else has this issue.

Ok so the Traccar client works fine for me on a data connection when using the demo server.

I think I have narrowed it down to me possibly entering the wrong ip address

Dunner5158 years ago

Ok so I am using port 5055 and this is confirmed to be listening
Protocol is TCP and is allowed on the firewall incoming
I am using my correct public server ip address

Anyone know where I am going wrong?

Thanks for all the help Anton,it was an issue with my port

Now since iv got the client working I just have to set up my tracker.
Its a Coban tk104, would I be right in saying that I set the ip on it to look for my public ip address of my server and the port to 5055?
