Traccar can do everything you are asking for.
Great but has anyone actually done it?
I'm sure it has been done. I know Traccar is used to track racing events. It's also used to track boats, planes, cars and anything else. I'm not sure why you are doubting that it can be done. Is there anything specific you are worried about?
I'm not exactly worried but sailing events have their own peculiarities so, before making what I foresee to be a considerable investment in time and effort, it would be good to know that someone has been that way before. I might even be able to borrow some of their ideas!
Is Traccar suitable for tracking competitors in a dinghy sailing event? What that typically means is numerous boats, each with a tracker, distributed over a couple of square miles of water close to land. The position of each needs to be recorded reasonably accurately - say 50m every 10 minutes.
Has anyone done it?
