Bery, I have Android clients running on various devices with various Android versions. Make sure that the app has the permission to use gps and phone calls. -> Apps -> Permissions
Then make sure, you entered the correct server address and port. -> sth. like http://your.server.com:5055/
For first tests use "mixed" as the GPS provider. If you have no GPS where you are testing, the app/device will not try to update the position, because it does not know where it is.
The last point got me once while setting up a client device.
I personally use update rates off 300 s and 300 m. Only when I am in vehicles faster than 300 km/h I change it.
