gps device sometimes 'unknown status' for a few hours

Hi,

sometimes the gps has 'unknown status' for a long time, I have to call the phone number of the gps, after that it resumes 'online', anybody encounter this kind of problem? can anybody recommend a more reliable and yet low cost one? Thanks
