Hello Anton,
I'm looking at using traccar for a company I'm working for (it fits our needs perfectly), but I have a concern with the latest builds. From what I can see, the version of ExtJS used in the application was upgraded from version 6.0.1 to version 6.2.0 in Dec 2016. According to the current ExtJS GPL licensing info:
"Sencha’s current GPL policy for Ext JS is that major releases, such as 6.0, 7.0, and the first minor release immediately following a major release, such as 7.0.1, are available under GPL v3. All other releases, such as 6.5 and 6.5.1, are available to commercial license customers with current maintenance and support agreements. You can download the latest Ext JS GPL version by completing the form on the right and clicking on the download SDK button. (Sencha reserves the right to change its policy at any time and without notice.)"
This implies that we would need to get a commercial license to use the application, since version 6.2.0 is currently not available under GPL. I'm not sure how this would work since the application is being released under GPL, and from what I understand, this would be incompatible with a commercial license.
Do you recall if Sencha supported GPL for version 6.2.0 at the time you upgraded? If yes, a case can made that traccar is still compliant since it should be covered by the 2016 agreement (I believe that's how GPL works).
I'd really like to use traccar, but I want to make sure of the current ExtJS licensing state before committing to it.
Thank you very much. That's what I thought, but I just wanted confirmation.
