excel reports customizacion

Greetings, many have commented on being able to customize reports in Excel, the most commented solution has been to use formulas if I understood correctly, now, I have tried to use them in the reports (ok, with adding columns and so on,) but all my attempts in the template when using or issuing the report they generate the cell as TEXT, not as GENERAL so that the formula works, for example this "=IF(INDIRECT("B" & ROW())="ignitionOn";"Unit On" ;INDIRECT("B" & ROW()))" works perfectly in the issued report, or in test cells, but when I insert it into the template it remains like this, as text and of course the formula does not work, I am overlooking some detail , or am I wrongly focused, thank you

Where did you find a solution with formulas? I'm pretty sure formulas are not supported.

You can write an expression to translate those values as well. That's what I meant."

I could have misinterpreted answers like that, that's why I ask, suppose for example cell B9 of the event report that gives the values ignitionON ignitionOFF deviceOverspeed, etc., and contains ${event.type}, how would you change it to say UNIT-ON instead of ignitionON or if you have any example to guide me, thank you very much

You can write a template expression, but NOT Excel formulas.
