Device Identification?

Advian7 days ago

Hi, I'm new here.
Was looking to see if it is possible to use this GPS device I own, with traccar.

I can install the server myself.
But don't know how to configure thise device to send data to the server.
This was branded "TassLock" I know nothing else about it.

IMEI was blurred in the picture.

Is there any chance of getting this to connect to the server?

Any reply is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,
Did you put in a SIM card in it?
Try to find the correct port number to get access with your device to the server. In the Traccar host you have to use the menu and add the device by means of the IMEI number.
It is all well explained in the Traccar documentation.

thanks for the reply. I understand that part.
I read the documentation. in step 4 of Quick Start guide, it says

Configure your device to start reporting the location data to your server. For more details on how to configure your specific model check your device manual or contact your device vendor support.

what I don't understand is, how do I configure it? I don't know the model, or have a manual.

You could try to send an sms message to the device like Check123456 or Smslink123456.
On Internet you can find various protocols for these types of gps devices. You could try a couple of the sms messsges. There are a lot of different types of messages. They mostly all use a command and a password. From the factory these devices often use a preset password like 0000 or 123456.
