What protocol are you using?
Its the kingneed one, If I'm reading my config right, I'm using

5002

As all the others are commented out.

Here's an entry....I'm trying to figure out where teh speed if (if it's not calculated from the gps co-ords). This is possibly ~50km/h driving
Is this the speed? 9.580
And some more.

These, I figured out are motorway (not surface streets), so should be ~100km/h - so by that reckoning this does look like knots ?
If your device doesn't report speed in knots, you need to configure tk103.speed
.
I thought i saw a forum post like that....can you give me a pointer to that config option. In that in the traccar.xml and have you got an example for it?
so:

knots

at a guess?
I found it in another thread.

mph

I seem to be getting low speeds along motorway driving, where I'm driving at 100km/h it seems to be reporting about 51-54km/h.
So if I convert knots to km, I see that 53 is 100km/h.
Does that mean my unit IS reporting in knots rather than km/h? Can I set this for the tracker? As I 've seen that traccar converts to knots in the db and then back out to the display unit.
