Android client accuracy

bttd2 years ago

Hi!

I have two car, and I install tracking device into both of them.

I have an few years old cheap cj720 tracker in one and my old android phone in the other. Its a xiaomi mi 5 (flagship phone from a few years ago)

My problem is, the android phone accuracy is very low relative to the cj720 tracker.

Its like I dont even drive on the road.

If I change the upload frequency in the android app, does it affect the accuracy?

I feel like you're confusing accuracy with frequency. Accuracy applies to each point. If you have high accuracy points, but only report once every hour, you'll still have direct lines that connect those dots.

Also you haven't provided your app settings and your device settings.

Hi,

Yes, you are right about I mean location update frequency.
My app settings are on default. I can see only one setting according to frequency but it is only for reporting. For me it means how often the phone upload location data to the server.

I have a 100mb data plan for this tracking device, so I want to keep the upload frequency low while the location frequency is high.

The default is 5 minutes interval, which is not going to be enough for live tracking a vehicle on a map.

Ok I understand now, the frequency not just the upload frequency it also the position frequency too.
