It might work (not guaranteed), but I would strongly recommend upgrading.
As you can see here there are many modifications made for the web version also between 5.4 and 5.6
So most logic would be to also build 5.6 web for 5.6
i will try something like installing 5.6 and then change the modern folder with the previous one generated with 5.4.

Yeah, then you still have the bugs from 5.4
It makes no sense to upgrade to 5.6 so that the modern version remains at 5.4.
You can decide whether to apply your changes to the code in the modern version 5.6.

I have 5.4 running on a vps with a generated build for the web interface (custom logo, background etc.).
Now, i want to upgrade to 5.6, do i need to make a new build first for the web interface 5.6 and install it with the package or i can use my previous build (5.4) instead
