Does j16 (gt06/tianqin/jt808) supports mileage? How to implement it?
when it says it does not support mileage, does it mean you want to get the mileage data from the gps device?
Exactly, Cristian! I'd like it directly from the device. I don't want to calculate it via platform, server side.
Checking the manual does not have that option, but I can ask the manufacturer, the answer may take some time. I can recommend the concox VL03 which has what you need and is cheaper than teltonika.

Thanks for the attention, Cristian. Unfortunately when sending the commands I didn't receive any response from the device confirming any alteration. It seems it doesn't make any changes. When sending right after a command to alter the frequency of sending GPS packets, it answered the SMS.
I have equipment available, I will do the tests in a few more hours, and I will let you know the results.

now the device informs me the odometer and also the voltage of the vehicle, I checked the history and before it did not send this data.

I'm glad to know J16 supports mileage. I've just discovered according to the link of the device you posted that I'm currently using the wrong model of it. Mine has a different pattern in it's case wich probably means a different version of software/hardware. I'll let an image below:

I googled it quickly and couldn't find any offers selling this model I happened to buy.. but I found out there's some different versions of J16 that can be found in the models of J16 A/B/W.

Well, I was barking up the wrong tree and that explains.. I'm trying the wrong device since mine returns LV-12-LOCK-FASESA-B34 2023-06-19-1 V4.29. It isn't a J16 despite it's appearance. Searching for LV12, I can find many different trackers. I'm gonna order a legit J16. Thanks for all the support, Cristian!
Cristian, I bought a J16. I got J16-MASCSA-B38 2023-09-04-1 V4.43 from it's command version. It's a bit different, mine seems to be updated actually, but the hodometer worked aswell. I was just unable to see data buffering while no GPRS connection available. I drove past an area well known as poor in conection, but it discharged positions in the gateway with 20 minutes lag, indicating there's buffering systems.
I also tested it without chip but then I didn't get any report recorded after inserting the chip again a couple minutes after. Nothing went trough the gateway. I don't know if it's some kind of mechanism that didn't record data when there's no chip available or something, once the field tests seem to indicate there was buffering. When searching, I dind't see anything about buffering related to J16, neither affirmative or negative.
Also who sold me the device couldn't tell me about it. Do you know if J16 has buffering?
I consulted the manufacturer and they tell me that it has the capacity to store 8.000 positions.

I recently bought a new device, J16. I've never had contact with it before... I'm trying to develop comunication with it as a low cost alternative to my operation that nowdays runs with two kinds of solutions: simple tracking services and complete tracking services (includes driver's RFID identification). I'm aiming on J16 for those applications that doesn't require RFID identification, as it's cheaper than Teltonika, wich I use for costumers that seek complete tracking.
Thing is I work both with traccar and a self-made gateway to process data from trackers. I'm trying to implement communication with J16 via GT06 protocol, but I found out that it doesn't supports mileage. As mileage is an essential information on my operation, I'd need to try another protocol. I was informed that CRX3 is not supported by J16, but Tianqin and JT808 are. And they support mileage. I just need to send a SMS to shift among protocols.
But then It occurred to me if J16 supports mileage at all.. does it have this function besides the protocol? If anyone already worked with this device, could please save me some time?
In case negative, I'd appreciate any recommendations of similar low cost devices as J16 that works fine with mileage, as I mentioned this is essential in my operation.
