I've tested a Wanway S20 (from Amazon), inside an aluminium e-bike frame with my own traccar server.
GPS and LTE both work well. Uses a Neoway N58-LA module.
I estimate the battery will last a month, so connected 5V from the e-Bike to the micro-USB charge connector. Whenever the battery is fitted, the tracker will charge.
However it goes offline when power is connected, even if bike battery not fitted. I'm assuming this is related to the device earth/ground being connected to the bike.
Should I:
- find an isolating 5V DC converter to charge it,
- connect an external antenna
- some sort of RF coupling without physically connecting
- change the tracker settings (possible?) so it turns off when not moving, and battery life is say a year?
- ???
