Tracking Cars

Hi friends

We are going to track a car using the traccar system, is it possible at all? Currently we've installed a device on the car that supports SMS commands such as STATUS# or GPRSSET# or PARAM#, how can we use this device to track the car location in Traccar? I think we can set a server address for our tracker using the GPRSSET# command.

Most probably to set or point this device to your traccar server, the command would be . Seems to be a GT06 protocol device.

SERVER,0,123.123.123.123,5023,0#

Replace 123.123.123.123 (with the actual traccar serves IP)

I know that the device installed on the car, uses the port 5023, so it is probably GT06 or something similar. What kind of settings should I have for this device other than IP?

Can I use traccar server for viewing my car location (like the way I used it for tracking users having APK application). How can I recognize my device? Should I be looking for a 6 digit code (like the code that APK application gives to the users) or I should an IMEI?

I'm currently far away from the car (in another country), can I still send SMS to the device?

You have to configure APN, IP address and port.

If it's GT06 protocol, then you should use IMEI as device identifier.

You can still send SMS even if you are in another country.
