This seems to be the APN for Tim in Italy
APN: internet
MCC: Leave as default 470
MNC: Leave as default 02
Normally you also need to set MCC and MNC when sending the APN to the device (but i dont know the Coban trackers).
This is the first time I hear that you need to set MCC and MNC. Is that really the case for some devices?
All tracker models that i know which use the Watch protocol (dozens) need to be configured with mnc , mcc
The official command is.
pw,123456,APN,APN name,user name,password,MCCMNC#
At least in my country it wont work without it (the data connection).
They also discribe it in the English Watch protocol that you have here https://www.traccar.org/protocols/
16.APN settings
The platform sending:
[CS*YYYYYYYYYY*LEN*APN,APN name ,User name,code,User data]
Example:[SG*5678901234*0011*APN,cmnet,,,46000]
Where 460 00 is the MCC and MNC port
Interesting because this information should already be available from the SIM card.
From what i know. The reason is that for instance mobile phones read out and set that apn data automaticly to establish the gprs connection (internet).
Many of these Watch gps trackers (2G) cant do that but have a large set of apn settings pre programmed in the firmware for most countrys. But only for the major networks. The ""unknown" networks need to be set through apn including mcc and mnc port. Then it will work.
In the 403B it is not possible to set MNC and MCC the official command according to the manual that you find here is:
To set APN: Apn123456 ibox.tim.it
To set User and Password: Up123456 user password
But to set MNC and MCC no command.
This command: pw,123456,APN,APN name, user name, password,MCCMNC# does not accept it.
In Italy, Tim has MCC 222 and MNC 01.
Actually i did look it up for you here https://www.apnarena.com/en/it/tim-italy/#apn-settings-for-android
@Track-trace2 It doesn't work with Apn ‘’internet’’, I'm sending you Apn TIM configuration taken here:
https://www.smartworld.it/guide/tim-apn-193655.html/amp
But it still doesn't go, I'm losing hope.
So first you should determine if the simcard is working. Did you test the simcard in a mobile phone with internet (while wifi is switched off) to see if the simcard is ok and gprs internet works ?
I also wonder is the device actually 4G ? because in the specs it states details for 2G + 3G
http://www.coban.net/html/2020/11/18/en/20201118-gps403B_datail.html
On that same product page you can see their contact details also, for instance Skype.. you could ask them also.
Work the sim card in an Android phone with 4G network. By inserting in the Tracker another card with a different operator (Iliad) everything works but with TIM nothing.
Yeah, then its definitly the device APN since your Tim simcard works in a mobile phone with gprs. You might ask coban through their contact details.
Wait. You tested the SIM card in 4G, but have you tried 2G/3G? Because if the device doesn't support it, it won't work.
Hi everyone, i have an tracker 403b Coban, Then I have the following problem:
In Italy, by entering the APN Tim, giving the command: '' Apn123456 ibox.tim.it '' the Tracker answers '' APN OK '' but cannot connect to the internet (Tim does not have a username and password for GPRS, and I have an annual internet subscription), I also give the command Gprs123456 and the tracker answers me GPRS OK. But giving the check123456 results constantly in GPRS OFF. With an Iliad card these problems do not arise.
How can I fix it?
Thank you.
