setting Custom Map (XYZ) as default map

william2 years ago

Hi, i want to set the Custom Map as default whenever an user logged in. I tried several times, even my admin account, if i use a new browser (or clear my cookies), it always set me back to default settings which is "Location IQ Streets" while Custom Map XYZ is disabled, i have to reenable it back on Settings - Preferences. Is there a way to do so? (to force Custom Map as default and only map) on the old version, this is doable.

Enable and switch to it. It will be saved as the default locally.

can't it to be forced globally? on the old version, once custom map is defined, it will be used globally by everyone.

Currently not. Feel free to create a feature request.

i mean, disable all layers, except custom layer. (by default)

edit: should i repost this as feature request?

Anton Tananaev2 years ago

There was never an option to disable all layers. But yes, if you want this to be considered, you should create a feature request.

this is my old server, luckily haven't deleted it yet. i guess i'm sticking to the old version then, until this feature is back. on the old server, once we choose that, it will stick to custom layer to everyone.

Not sure if you realize that, but each user can override the map layer you set in the server settings. So my statement is still valid.

yes i know, they can override, but the first map they see for the first time, will be the custom map. and that's what i needed. on this new version though, every new user uses "LocationIQ Streets" as their default map. even an user that has already chosen (and saved) custom map layer, as their default map, if he/she relogged in with a new browser, it will return to "LocationIQ Streets".

so i think, when you say "saved as the default locally." it is saved locally on browser cookies, not on user's server database.

Anton Tananaev2 years ago

Not in cookies, but yes, locally in browser.

where do i post for feature request?

i like the new interface though :) so much better than the previous version i used. thanks.

On GitHub. If it's UI specific, then in the web app repo:

so, is this UI specific? because i was thinking, it should to be saved internally (on server database).

Anton Tananaev2 years ago

It is UI specific. To store in the database we will likely use existing attributes functionality.
