SMS Gateway - Trying to understand things

Hello together,

I'm succesfully installed Traccar on my Synology and using it with a TK905 tracker.

As this tracker has a sleep mode (which I want to keep), I'm trying to figure out some things which are not completely clear to me.

I want to have the possibility, to reactive from sleep the tracker via web interface. From my smartphone i just can send an SMS with G123456# and it will send again for some minutes until going into sleep. On the web interface, i can send messages and also have the possibility, to send those commands via SMS.

  1. If I understand it right, my tracker won't answer a "single reporting" from the web interface, when in standby?

  2. If so, I need to send an SMS to the tracker, for which the SMS Gateway app is designed for? Connect Smartphone to Traccar and then send the SMS via smartphone?

  3. Do I really have to set the SMS Gateway app as default app for SMS on my smartphone? I'd like to keep my stock app for this.

  1. That depends on the device, so probably a question to the device vendor.

  2. Yes.

  3. You can try. It might depend on the Android version.
