Although I'm now reading that GPRS runs on 2g and that tmobs still supports GPRS - Soo maybe all is not lost for cheaper trackers?

i found this on aliexpress - and i found a site somehwere (will need to find it again) on programming it via sms - it should work with traccar

Looks good, let us know how it goes.
If 4G CAT M1 is available for you, the Mictrack MT825 is also a smaller pet tracking device. the port on traccar is 5191.
Thank you mictrack, ordered.
Price is similar to the chinesium one which works just fine
Imzenreally please can you point me to the one you found.
Oh I see it above :)
Thank you
I ordered a Mictrack but so slow, nearly a week later and not even a tracking number .
Hi heavenlyangel,
We send you the email for the tracking number but did not get your reply.
Maybe in your trash box, pls check later.
Thanks,
Mictrack
Mictrack, it did go to Junk. Thank you got the tracking number.
So I've been looking for a tracker to out on my dog's collar when I go camping - I've found a ton of 2g devices that would work for like 20$
But on AliExpress the only 4g devices I've found are like 70$ +
Does anyone have a solid experience with a traccar friendly 4g device so that my pup and I don't get 'lost' when we go camping
Edit: I ask because I suspect 2g is going the way of the ghost here in the US - And I figure 4g will be somewhat future proofed
