Yes, you can use dynamic DNS with Traccar Client app. Problem might be if you decide to use some hardware tracking devices. Some models support only IP addresses and don't resolve DNS names.
Again, if you are using only Traccar Client, then you can turn server off. The app will store data if server is not available and send it later when you turn it on again.

Yes so far I am using Traccar Client only - I will have to choose hardware that supports DNS names if I ever change to that.

Before installing server I would like to know:
Is it okay for Android phone to connect to server using dynamic dns (dyndns.org) address? I have dynamic IP address but have a dyndns account. Your port checker shows my public IP address but that will change every so often.
Should the server be on all the time or can it be shut off?
