Eratic Notifications

bristol4064 years ago

I have email and SMS notifications configured for "Device Moving" and "Device Stopped". However, I only get notifications sometimes and not every time that the device moves or stops. When the notification works I get both the email and the SMS but on other occasions I get neither. Is there anything in the configuration that could cause this to happen ?

Are events not generated or the issue is only with notifications?

How do I tell if events are generated ?

Anton Tananaev4 years ago

You can check events report.

There is only one event in the events report and it is the last Device Stopped event. The Device Moving event (for which I received a notification) is not reported. There should also have been another device moving and another device stopped event/

I still have missing "moving" & "stopped" events. Has anyone seen this issue or have any suggestions please.
My test scenario is:
I leave home, park at gym for 1hr, leave gym, return home. Today I saw only the "device moving" event when I left home.

This is my events report:

Time	Type	Geofence Name	Maintenance Name	Attributes
2021-05-24 10:09:53	deviceOnline
2021-05-24 10:09:54	ignitionOn
2021-05-24 10:12:27	deviceMoving
2021-05-24 10:23:06	ignitionOff
2021-05-24 10:33:13	deviceUnknown
2021-05-24 11:30:02	deviceOnline
2021-05-24 11:30:11	ignitionOn
2021-05-24 11:44:21	ignitionOff
2021-05-24 11:54:48	deviceUnknown
2021-05-24 14:12:09	deviceOnline
2021-05-24 14:12:12	ignitionOn
2021-05-24 14:12:51	ignitionOff
2021-05-24 14:13:16	ignitionOn
2021-05-24 14:16:17	ignitionOff
2021-05-24 14:26:24	deviceUnknown

All looks good until 11:30 when device comes online I see "ignition on" but no "device moving" event

Anton Tananaev4 years ago

If it's already moving, why do you expect a new event? It seems like it never went to stopped state, based on your report.

bristol4064 years ago

it was parked from 10:23 until 11:30 and then moved again

Anton Tananaev4 years ago

My guess is that your device hasn't reported any data in that time period, so the motion state never changed.

bristol4064 years ago

It did report "ignition on" at the time it started moving - 11:30 and "ignition off" at the time it would have stopped

Anton Tananaev4 years ago

Motion and ignition are two completely different things.

bristol4064 years ago

I also see thr device moving on the map. Also I was driving the vehicle so I know that the ignition on and moving coincided.

Anton Tananaev4 years ago

OK, let's see the raw data to confirm that.

How do I do that please Anton ?
