admin user has no admin rights???

Chris Wilson5 years ago

Firstly, many thanks for such an awesome piece of software, I admit I was sceptical that something so easy to install on 64 bit Win7 could work well, but I am delighted with what I have seen so far!

Being a new user I have had a bit of a whoopsie registering a user. Somehow I am now in the situation where logging in using the default admin / admin has me logged in with no admin rights and the admin tick box being greyed out no obvious way to grant them to myself. Initially I just need a very basic "myself only" set up with me having full admin rights access and to register three vehicle tracking devices and my phone, which is already registered and being tracked. Is there an idiot proof way to see what I have managed to do, undo it and create one user (me...) with full admin rights please? I don't want to fiddle about any more and make matters worse! I can link to screenshots or files if needed.

Thanks again and a very happy Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year to all. Great software!

It's possible that you removed admin privileges from your user. You can fix it directly in the database.

Thank you Anton, do you mean at the file level by editing something? Not in the GUI itself?

Directly in the database, not through Traccar UI.

OK, sorry to be a pain Anton, but what is the name and path of the database I need to edit, and should I just use a plain text editor like Notepad ++? In the right top Settings menu the line for "users" no longer appears.

Hi, It is not as easy as editing a text file, to managerr a server some basic knowledge is required, in this case Anton suggests you enter the database of your server, you can do that from the ip address of your server or the dns ... / phpmyadmin, obviously you must know the name and user of the database to be able to enter the tables, finally in the user table "tc_users", in that table you look for the admin user, and verify that it has an attribute of administrator. I repeat, basic knowledge is necessary not to create problems instead of solutions

Hi. I am struggling with an issue on this also. I installed the server. The admin user has admin rights on the normal interface. On the modern interface the user does not seem to have the admin privileges. I successfully connected to the database. I am looking under Schemas Public but I have no data her. I stopped the db and connected to it but no info displayed under tables.

Hi ChrisT, I am Chris Wilson, for some reason I was unable to log in with my original user name. I chickened out of tampering with the files and reloaded from scratch. I have very very simplistic needs so it did not take that long to set things up again. I really should learn the basics of mainetenance though, if only to be able to delete a constantly growing historical database. Good luck.

ChrisT, modern interface doesn't have admin functionality yet. It's just a preview.
