Connect "wall charger tracker" with Traccar

Tima5 years ago

I got hold of this GSM/ GPRS/ GPS positioning charger called „S4“:

Sending a text message/SMS to the device to find out it’s location works fine.

Unfortunately the documentation does not mention anything about adding an IP address to register it with Traccar.

Does anyone know if/how this device can be used with Traccar?

Many thanks.

Mine also didn't said and it works. Which sms commands do you send?

Hello @Erwin,
thanks for your reply.

Sending „GGG“ to the device via text message works fine - and gives as a response a close enough position which you can then look up in Google Maps.

Therefore my question is:
Can this device be registered here online on the Traccar Server as well?

Is there maybe a way to register a device - just with the IMEI number - without telling it the Traccar IP address?

Many thanks.

The imei is just used for id, you need to provide it. In traccar ad several ones with the full imei and one shorter with a 0 in the front (check the guide) and then in the gps just try your server IP and all the ports 1 by 1 (google for traccar clones, there is a list of all the ports..) eventually one of the devices will appear online

I think it uses TCP/IP as well, you just need to find out what protocol it uses. Do you have any model number? Brand? Have you tried sending an SMS to get information?
Like "CHECK*123456" (where 123456 is your password) or "Server#", "Domain#" or simliar. What's the response?

Hi Erwin,
Hi Dan,
Thank you very much for taking the time.

We are still testing... many different commands via SMS ... but the tracker unfortunately still does not appear with a position on the Traccer Platform.

Hello again,
I still try to connect the wall charger with Traccar.

As I wrote in May - we've successfully managed to activate the device itself - by sending serveral text messages:
(please see the enclosed screenshot link below)

QQQ (Master-Number)
GGG (Location) and
HHH (Status).

The question now is still:
How to tell the device to connect to Traccar.

I’ve tried „adminip“ „Domain#“ and „Server#“.

None of these commands seemed to have been successful.
Here’s the screenshot of all what I've tried:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/q4f6fk0xsvhed9j/GPS%20USB-Charger%20Plug%20SMS%20Screenshot.jpg?dl=0

Also, I was not able to find out the ID or IMEI of the device - because there’s no ID label on the device itself.
And the documentation does not explain how to do this:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/hzq3dsgy9jisac7/GPS%20USB-Charger%20Plug%20Manual.pdf?dl=0

Do you have any idea on how to find out the ID/IMEI of the device?
And how this device can be connected to Traccar?

Many thanks.

Try sending IMSI to the device. Does it reply?

Dan Dyse4 years ago

If I am not mistaken this device is very similar to the S8 device which main purpose is callback or calling it to listen -> a spying equipment. It does not use GPS data but gets its position when connected via GSM - I bet the position it shows is always quite off your real location? There seems to be a command to change the server (try sending "server whatever.youwant.com", but it will keep sending its data to gpsui.net). So I guess it cannot be used with Traccar. Btw, gpsui.net has big security issues (e.g.: use 4 random letters/numbers in URL and you will see some elses location) and can reveal your device's imei and stored phone number to anyone who knows how.

Hi Dan,
sending „IMSI“ got us the IMEI and IMSI numbers. Brilliant.

If you could tell us the text message (SMS) for the IP address - to connect the device now with Traccar - that would be just perfect.
Thanks a lot.

According to your second message I've tried the command Server again - but it failed.

Try a domain instead of address.
Try somedomain.com:90
But I guess even if this does not give an error, it will not change the server setting so it cannot be used with Traccar.
Try these too:
help -> should give a list of commands (you already know)
*3646655* -> should reply with version information
monitor -> does it reply positive? Try calling the device after that. Does it pick up?
If it does: what if someone from china calls it and listens? And the SIM in your device pays the bill ...

Thank's for your suggestions and your tips, Dan.

Meanwhile I have tried all of them - as you can see in the screenshot.

Screenshot:

Sending „demo3.traccar.org:90“ - also gave an error.

Sending „help“, „3646655“ and „“monitor“ - worked fine.

And - regarding your security concerns - like someone else listening in etc.
I thank you for your thoughts.

Since I just use a prepaid card with that device - it will stop it’s service - as soon as the ammount on the card is used up.
Also, this device will only be switched on when required (like on vacations etc.) - and I might turn off automatic call answering later.

What do you think?
Is there still anonther way to make this "GPS wall charger" work with Traccar?
