Generating other methods of notifying - MQTT/pushover

Is there a facility for sending a notification that is not sms or smtp. Something like an http call that I can change to a pushover notification, or more likely push to an MQTT queue?

Hi Anton,
I've had a look at the link you posted, but I'm no programmer and I really don't understand how I can add MQTT for notification.
Any information on this would be really appreciated!
