Server URL localhost

Rudy Paalvast5 years ago

Hi all,

I just download and installed the traccar server on my pc.
When I open localhost:8082 everything is fine, but as soon as I try to connect my phone to it I run into some problems.

Unfortunately I can't figure out which server URL I should use.
I tried many such as http://myIP:8082, but wasn't able to connect it to my phone.

I also opened several ports (5005, 5006 and 8082) to insure this wasn't the problem, but still no result. (might have maken a mistake here, is there a way to check if I've done it right?)

Can anybody help me with this problem?

My phone uses android and Traccar Client and I use Windows 10.
If more information is needed let me know!

Kind regards,
Rudy

PS: Some additional questions:
How many phones can I use with one account?
Can I create subaccounts that can be given access to a limit amount of the phones? And if yes how can I use these accounts seperately?

I checked if the port was open with https://www.traccar.org/port-check/ and apparently it's still closed.
Can someone help me with it?
I used windows defender firewall -> advanced settings -> rules for outgoing connections (also did it with incoming connections) -> new rule -> TCP -> Specific port
Then selected the specific ports and allowed access.

Hi Rudy, I've just set mine up using the same config as you. I'll try to help.

Firstly, we know the traccar service is running, as you say your browser opens up OK.
The Android app (5.19) uses port 5055. Port 5055 needs to be opened with an incoming rule in Windows firewall, and also on your router (mine is under 'Port Forwarding') so it can get through to the traccar service on your PC, which listens on port 5055. I haven't added any outgoing rules (don't think you need them)

The client on your Android phone will need configuring so it points to the internet facing IP address of your router - 'Server URL'. Looks like you may have that address already, but to find it I use a simple app on the PC called IP2 (http://keir.net/software.html). Then use the checker https://www.traccar.org/port-check/ to see if 5055 is open. If it isn't go back and check the above again. As a temporary measure, you can stop the firewall on your PC.

Assuming the port is open you need to add your phone on traccar on your PC - give it a name, and in the Identifier field put the 'Device Identifier' from the phone.

Stop the service on the phone, change the 'Server URL' to the IP address of your router. Leave the :5055 at the end of it, and start the service on the phone again. BEAR IN MIND - the internet-facing IP WILL CHANGE if your router is reset and/or your broadband goes down (I'm assuming you use broadband), and you'll have to setup the 'Server URL' again.

Hopefully, you should see the phone pop up on traccar on your PC

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your additional questions!
