APRS protocal format pdf : http://www.aprs.org/doc/APRS101.PDF

At this time, many amateur radio has build in APRS protocal sending function , it is very easily to use in a car , and there are so many Apps for APRS to report there GPS position to the APRS server, so I suggest to add APRS protocal support in the traccar server, thanks.

Am I understanding correctly that it works on top of AX.25 protocol? In that case it's not a regular TCP/UDP protocol that we have in Traccar.

No, because of the APRS packet is base on the ASCII encoded, there is a server named "APRS-IS" is using TCP/UDP protocol to get the client position or send another's postion to the client and exchange more user's position between two server. A open source client here: https://aprsdroid.org/

more example can be found here: https://aprs.fi/?c=raw&call=

APRS,TCPXX*,qAX,CWOP-1:@211429z4144.63N/12258.34W_051/000g000t036r000p000P000h77b10195WeatherCatV123B16H31

this is a full ASCII string , and it also can be communicated between Apps and Server by using TCP(port 14580)/UDP(port 14580).
