Hi, I got an LK209C 3G model, but from the manual, I do not see from manual how to route the message to TRACCAR, can anyone indicate how?

I saw that it is in the support list.

You should read the doc. The basic commands needed are those

admin123456 your_phone_number_beginning_with_00
apn123456 your_apn
adminip123456 your_traccar_server_ip 5013
sleep123456 shock

The last one is not really needed, but is quite useful in most cases.

Thanks for your reply renaud. that is what I need for setting now.
Where can I find full doc.? mine does not come with it.

It's easy to find with a fast search. For example: https://fccid.io/2AI9PLK209/User-Manual/Users-Manual-3082832

Hi

I'm interested in a reliable 3g odb GPS tracker that is reliable. Would be nice if it supports fuel level. In New Zealand the 2g network has been disabled. Prefer to buy from somewhere that does international shipping eg. AliExpress if possible.

There seems to be conflicting information about which trackers are reliable. Is the LK209C 3G still recommended or should I look at alternative options.

Thanks
Mike

NZ frequencies.

3G UMTS - 900MHz and 2100MHz.
4G LTE - 700MHz, 900 MHz and 1800 MHz

Ideally to support 3g 900mhz as that has the best coverage in New Zealand, but 4g world work too.

Mike,
The lk209-3g isn't OBD and will obviously not read the fuel gauge either. But that's still the model I use the most and recommand. For the frequencies, there are 3 versions, one is EU, other is US, and the 3rd one can use both, this is the model I generally purchase and which can be used worldwide. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3G-GPS-Tracker-Car-Vehicle-Locator-LK209C-20000mAh-Battery-Standby-Time-240-Days-Real-Time-Tracking/32801846900.html
But it is not OBD or 4G," only" 3G.

Hi Mike,

If need the 3G OBD Tracker, you can try the 4G OBD device MP90 ( of course it also support 3G).
As our test the MP90-E is better for NZ:
4G LTE : B1/B3/B5/B7/B8/B20;
3G WCDMA : 850/900/2100MHz;

You can get it from Mictrack online shop:
https://www.mictrack.com/shop/4g-obd-tracker-mp90/

Here is the Catalog for your check:

Generally speaking is the odb under the dash or under the hood?

I'm wondering about GPS reception /SIM card reception. Someone in our home automation and hackers group wasn't found of of GPS trackers because of the lack of GPS reception.

Does this device support external antenna? Is external antenna needed very often?

Thanks

renaud6 years ago

OBD is inside the dash.
External antennas are generally not needed, it generally works, just like you can use your phone GPS to guide you around when driving.
Actually, the main problem is more the phone reception. 2G was very good at covering large areas with good quality, but low speed, but that speed was largely sufficient for GPS trackers (and many other IOT devices). 3G has shorter range and 4G even shorter. A GPS tracker has absolutely no need for 3G or 4G speeds, but needs good phone and GPS reception. The added security of 3G/4G is also not needed as you send your coordinates on the net unencrypted anyway (of course, that could be improved, but your signal could also be triangulated anyway).

Any pointers where to find firmware updates for LK209 family trackers?

renaud6 years ago

You will need to contact your purveyor, they are not available online. Also, you will need the usb serial cable for those devices. If you got the devices recently, you probably have a recent enough firmware, check my former posts to see which ones to avoid.

Does anybody know, if LK210-3G is allowed in Germany? I think LK209-3G is not because of the microphone.
Has anybody ordered and got it delivered whithout Problems at the customs?
