3G Devices

If LBS is enabled, Traccar sends all available information (wifi and cell towers). Then geolocation provider decides what to use.

OK, thanks, so I should maybe try the other geolocation providers.

lk209c-3g is a really good one.

I have flashed my lk209c-3G devices with the "latest" (March 2017) firmware which is supposed to solve the battery consumption issue. I will post my findings here, but, hopefully, it will take a while to test :D

Like LK209C/LK209B/LK209A-3G, LK210-3G, they worked well in 3G market.
And LK210-3G have 3G WCDMA QUAD-BAND frequency.
Any information please contact me :

The new firmware didn't seem to completely solve the power consumption. It seems the device lasts a little bit longer, but not by a very noticeable amount.

It also seems that the device wakes up randomly and uses some GPRS data (without ever connecting to the traccar server). Here is an example of when the device was not moving.

I am beginning to have some doubts about the reliability of the lk209-3G. While I have yet to see a 2G version fail, I already have had 2 lk209c-3G fail on me in less than 1 year in a sample of 5. Actually, one of them failed in less than 2 weeks.

renaud7 years ago

I dismantled one of the lk209C-3G which failed. The battery is made of 4 units of reference 805080. The only capacity I have been able to find with this size/reference is 4000mAh, which means the tracker is 16000mAh, and not 20000mAh as advertised.

renaud7 years ago

Just as a warning, do not flash the March 2017 firmware update on lk209c-3g trackers. Since I flashed it, trackers last about 10-15 days in standby, while they are advertised as 240 days.

I am now testing 2017/09/29 firmware version

renaud7 years ago

The new lk209c-3g firmware seems to solve all the bugs in the former versions. There are no more random connections and battery seems to last what it should (it's still displaying 100% after 20 days).

It should support protocol h02, but this has not been verified officially yet.
This one supports 4G, is about the same price range and is verified to be supported https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Mictrack-4G-OBD-GPS-Tracker-MP90-Real-4G-LTE-Chip-Plug-Play-Easy-Install-For-Taxi/32781754519.html

thanks, I got your point. I will get this one instead.
