GPS microphones

Hi Anton

Is there any facility to track GPS microphones on VHF radios?
Would it be as simple as plugging the receiving radio in, opening all the ports and then looking at the logs to see which port the data came in on?

I don't think it would be as simple. Do those device even report GPS data over network connection?

Firstly I'm a member of a rescue team and trying to set up a way of tracking all our assets, vehicles team members and even helicopters that we work with.
I've had quite a bit of success with the vehicles and helicopters, still some glitchs to sort but nothing big.
Now we come to GPS mics, they create a small data package which sits on the end of a voice transmission.
We then would use a radio as a receiver coupled to a computer. I think there called AX.25 packets.

That's as much as I know for a fact.
There are programs out there that can track them but for us it would be good if all our tracking was done on one site, ie Traccar. Here's a link to one in New Zealand http://www.sartrack.co.nz/

How is receiver connected to a computer?

Hi

Now were getting to the bit I'm not sure about.
I found this link http://www.ringolake.com/pic_proj/decoder/rx_206.html

To answer your question I don't know.

The device from link uses serial port to send data. Traccar doesn't support serial communication, but it's possible to implement a script or an app that would forward the data to Traccar.

Any chance of a couple of pointers on the best way to do this?

Anton Tananaev8 years ago

Well, you need a developer to implement it. I can help. Send me an email to discuss details.

That's great I'll get some thoughts together and send you an email in the next couple of days.
